Boye folder seconds have blades with more noticeable “skin deep” cosmetic irregularities. “What makes a knife a second” is based on our aesthetic evaluation and years of experience working with the blades.
Each casting batch comes out a little differently, and each blade within that batch is unique. The distinctive surface markings on the seconds blades are produced by variables during the investment casting process, such cooling rates, tiny gas pockets, wax to ceramic adhesion, and temperature.
The seconds are fully guaranteed to have the same functionality as our firsts, including permanent corrosion resistance and non-magnetic properties, and they are made with the same careful and skilled attention.
